AVIEMORE

The town of Aviemore is just seven miles south of Carrbridge and is a popular location for skiiing, walking and adventure sports. Offers a good range of shops and facilities including swimming pool and cinema.

BOAT OF GARTEN

Our neighbour to the south, Boat of Garten is well known for the local ospreys at RSPB reserve at Loch Garten in Abernethy, the heritage Strathspey Railway and fine golf course.

CITY OF INVERNESS

The City of Inverness is just thirty minutes North by road or rail. Regarded as the capital of the Highlands of Scotland, it sits at the mouth of the River Ness and at the end of the Great Glen, a large geological fault which bisects the Highlands.

DUTHIL

A small village a mile to the East of Carrbridge, Duthil is part of the Carrbridge community and is home to the Clan Grant Centre.

GRANTOWN-ON-SPEY

The capital of Strathspey was established in 1765 as a planned settlement. Grantown-on-Spey has the Grantown Museum and the Craig MacLean Leisure Centre.

The main railway line from Perth to Inverness used to pass though but was closed in 1968. The Strathspey Railway is planning to reinstate the line from Aviemore and Boat of Garten to Grantown-on-Spey.

SLOCHD

A small settlement a mile to the North of Carrbridge, Slochdl is part of the Carrbridge community and includes Slochd hostel with Nordic skiing centre and mountain biking. Slochd is next to the old and new A9 road, the General Wade road and the Perth to Inverness railway line which at Slochd summit reaches 401m and the road 405m.
